Old Growth Trees...

Most of the Mangsteen Healthy Island® harvests is from trees that are over 50 years old. As they age, they get better and produce more fruit. Unlike over cultivated farmland in the USA, most of the Mangosteen is grown along the side of Duran fruit. They have a synergistic relationship in that they both take and give back to the soil what the other fruit needs. Farmers in Thailand have benefited from this process for thousands of years. At Healthy Island® we do not argue with what works, we seek after it and then try to bottle it.

Seasonal Harvest...

Magosteen from Thailand comes from three regions that can be harvested at different times during the months of April to October. Healthy Island® purchases Mangosteen from growers it personally knows and has visited. Healthy Island® has a select group of growers that are Chemical Free. In addition, the majority of our growers have organic farms. Each grower is within 24 hours of a HASAAP approved facility to assure high quality processing. Healthy Island® takes into consideration that Mangosteen is a seasonal fruit and we harvest aqccordingly.

High Anti-oxidants...

The Mangosteen has gained popularity recently for a few reasons. One, is that it is now being discovered in the West for its amazingly high antioxidant levels. Antioxidants are what nature gives us to combat Free-Radicals in our body. In simple terms, anti-oxidants remove the rust (oxidation) in our bodies. Rust is not good on a classic car or your classic body (like a classic car, we should get better with age or at least take better care). Xanthones are a particular kind of anti-oxidants that have been studied by many for the effectiveness in health.

Broad array of Xanthones...

A Xanthone is an anti-oxidant. There are over 40 identified Xanthones or anti-oxidants. Only 6 can be tested for (Cromadex.com). The best way to use the anti-oxidant power of the Mangosteen is to get as broad a range of the effective Xanthones as possible. We believe we have the broadest range of Xanthones on the market. We have tested for higher ORAC levels than most popular competitors on the market. Don’t fall for any sales pitch that claims a “pure Xanthone” there is no such thing, but it sounds good.

Taste Matters, and Quality counts...
Mangosteen originates in Thailand. The fruit's Xanthones are found in the pericarp or outer-skin. We separate the pericarp, the sweet white fruit, and the inner seed (not in every fruit) and then mix them together with various other tropical fruits. Healthy Island® wants you to have the nutrients as well as the great taste. We add a touch of Rosella (1%) from Thailand for its bright red color and pleasing sweet taste. Rosella is also a source of anti-oxidant power for your body.
